Tornado Hits Mississippi, Fierce Storm Moves Through Southeast

Several tornadoes hit the Southeast on Tuesday afternoon, leaving at least four dead in Mississippi, injuring others, and damaging numerous structures, officials said.
Two deaths were confirmed by Marion County Coroner Norma Williamson to ABC andWADM's Megan Hodge. Two people in Jones County, Mississippi were killed during the storm, Jones County emergency management spokeswoman Tami Wells confirmed to the The Huffington Post. A call to Marion County officials had not yet been replied to.
A tornado formed near Amite City, Louisiana and moved on to Columbia in southern Mississippi, which appeared to be hit the hardest. Hitting Columbia at about 2 p.m. CT, the tornado "was a very large one," Karla Brown with the Marion County Sheriff's Department told the Huffington Post. She confirmed that numerous people were injured, as well as structures and vehicles damaged. The Sheriff's Department was responding to reports of people trapped.
The tornado was moving at approximately 55 mph, and caused serious damage to a Walmart store in Columbia, WDAM reported.
Across the southeast, at least five tornadoes touched down, in states including Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana, ABC reported.
