Why would this gun, that is only in pieces be famous?

If you remember that my husband, Gunther Russbacher was a 28 year CIA veteran at the time I married him. He was the number 3 man in the CIA. That position is known as "the banker for the CIA".
Now let me add a few facts that you may not know.
1. The FBI hates the CIA and wants to destroy it.
2. One of the main people in the CIA that the FBI wanted to destroy in 1989 was the banker of the CIA. They did not approve of the way he funded covert operations keeping them out of the oversight of congress and the DOJ/FBI.
3. Gunther and I ran into each other in Medford, Oregon. We had known each other from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where my husband John Dyer was Dean of Science and Engineering. John hated Gunther, but that's a story for another time.
4. When we ran into each other, my husband, John was dead and Gunther was divorced from his wife. We had been attracted to each other from the first moment we met in the mid 70s. We were married to other people at the time. When we met again in Medford, OR we decided to get married. Gunther told me that he needed permission to marry. Having been married to a high level government employee for 16 years I knew all about the many hoops these people were required to jump through.
5. He called his boss, a 4 star Admiral that I had also known from the Naval Postgraduate School, and asked permission to marry me. Permission was denied because I was a colleague of Barbara Honnegger, the woman who wrote the first book with the title, "The October Surprise."
6. I found out 2 years later, after an attempt to kill Gunther that he was the pilot who flew Vice Presidential Candidate George H.W. Bush to Paris to conclude the October Surprise deal and delay the release of the 52 hostages that were being held in Iran.
7. The FBI set up Gunther and had him arrested and sent to prison in 1986. He was paroled a few years later. When a person is on probation they are not allowed to carry a real gun.
8. The CIA had Gunther released to track down drug lords who had infiltrated the United States and were setting up their cartels here in the USA.
9. DOJ and the FBI didn't want the CIA involved in tracking down these killers. IMO the "killers" i.e. "drug lords" worked for the FBI.
10. Two days after Gunther and I met in Medford, we were on a Lear Jet headed to Reno where we married. The CIA and the FBI raced to find a way to contain the mess.
11. Two days after marrying Gunther in Reno he was arrested by the FBI in my home town in front of all of my relatives.
12. When a person has been in prison, they can't own a real gun... the FBI had seen Gunther with a gun and knew they could revoke his probation if they could catch him with a real gun.
13. The FBI searched my house to find everything that was connected to Gunther. They found the gun in the above photo and took it.
14, Two years later, after we had proven Gunther's innosence, one of our lawyers gave us a box. Inside the box was the Colt 45 that you see in the photo above. I have no idea why they broke the gun down into all of its many parts.
I want to move on with my life and selling Gunther's things is one of the ways I am doing this. I have not set a price and we don't have the RMN auction up yet.
If you think you might want this piece of history, email me and I will let you know when the auction is up and ready to go.
There's more to this story, but I am falling asleep at the keyboard and I know I need to sleep more so I can recover from the pneumonia and the stomach flu.
bye for now!!
