The Daily Beast’s Dave Majumdar is out with another excellent story about how the gun on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the Pentagon’s newest and most expensive fighter jet, won’t work for another four years — at the earliest.
That’s because the software that lets pilots shoot the Gatling gun, which is critical for the aircraft to provide close-air support to ground troops, isn’t expected to ship until 2019, according to the article.

This formidably expensive and useless thing will fly w/o gatling gun as a new generation multirole substitute of A10, F16, F/A18, Harrier II, F22 and everything else because software that is to connect it's radar target acquisition, a trigger on pilot's stick, and gatling electric motor is so complex to be developed and integrated into ship's software inside 4 weeks?
Why Pentagon does not employ any software company from Europe (like Croatia), India, or, God forbid, Russia, or China, to compose a code to operate it, in 3 months (or less)?
